![]() ![]() Users either use the “…” button (Figure 5A) or swipe right (Figure 5B). Similar to the “like” function, Spotify also affords two methods for adding songs to the “queue” of what will play next. What does add to queue mean on Spotify On Spotify, adding a track to the queue means that track will be playing next. I see many complaints from users about random music being added to their queues but no real answers from Spotify. Instead, the feedback ingrains the meaning of swiping left as knowledge in the head. Unwanted music keeps being added to my queue. An extra signifier to indicate the function of swiping would provide knowledge in the world, but it could clutter the screen with too many buttons. This feedback makes it easy for new users to learn the function of swiping left. Something similar is the Group Session, which allows you to play music and add songs to a play queue together with your friends. However there are no immediate plans to add such a feature, as far as were aware. However, in both cases, the user receives immediate feedback, saying that the song was “Added to Liked Songs” or “Removed from Liked Songs.” We appreciate the suggestion to have an option to add music to someone elses queue. The first method is more obvious, since there is a visible button the second method lacks discoverability. The setting is set by device, meaning if you turn it off for the speaker in your living room, the setting will be. This will ensure that youll enjoy a smooth transition between songs with no sudden changes in the playback. This wont work with the queue, as each song gets. This way when the playlist ends the repeat function will kick in and start from the first song again. If you want to be able to repeat a list of songs, you should add them to a playlist. you can simply choose Add to queue after clicking on your track. The Queue on Spotify works as a temporary play queue, a bit different than other music streaming services. ![]() Figure 4A (left): Clicking the “…” button next to a song brings up a menu where users can choose to “like” and “unlike” the song.įigure 4B (right): Users can also swipe left on a song to “like” and “unlike.” Currently, Spotify offers Remote group session. ![]()
